Prajit Chatterjee

Prajit graduated from Loyola University Chicago, majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, with a minor in Psychology, and is on the pre-med track. Part of what drove Prajit to pursue a major in neuroscience was the concept of how experience can have a profound effect on mental state, and the desire to explore the underlying neurobiology that supports this. He is particularly interested in how memory is affected by both internal and external factors such as stress and emotional states such as anxiety and fear. With regards to his interest in medicine, Prajit is pursuing a path where he may specialize in neurology, perhaps in pediatric care. Last year, he shadowed at a pediatric clinic as well as an internal medicine clinic. While shadowing, he met patients who ranged from younger children with ADHD and dyslexia, to older patients with depressive symptoms and early dementia. He also worked in a physical therapy clinic over the summer, and is involved with clubs on campus including Hearts for the Homeless. In his free time, he enjoy biking, exercising, and spending time with friends.
