Hamza Mohammed

Hamza is a sophomore at Loyola University Chicago, majoring in Bioinformatics on the pre-medical track with a minor in Neuroscience. He was raised in Hoffman Estates and has 3 other siblings. His interest in memory research grew out of his work in the memory enhancement unit at his local senior living community, where he supports older adults experiencing memory loss. Seeing how memory loss affects both residents and their families firsthand, Hamza became curious about the biological mechanisms behind how memories are formed and lost. He's always been infatuated with computers, and chose bioinformatics to see where biology and computation meet. He hopes to bring data driven approaches to neuroscience research on his way to a career in medicine. He is also BLS certified.

Outside the lab, Hamza serves as treasurer for both PCRF and SOS and helps with sales and operations at his family's hotel, which has given him an interest in entrepreneurship. In his free time, he enjoy's cars, watches, hanging out with friends, and is a big time foodie.
