Alex Stratmann

Alex is a senior at Loyola University Chicago majoring in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience on the pre-med track. He knew from a very early age that he wanted to pursue a career in a field that was centred on helping others. He’s always been a scientist at his core, and is fascinated by the study of human behavior, which has led him down the path of medicine. Early in high school Alex was given the opportunity to shadow a neurologist on a stroke team for several weeks. This experience, in conjunction with his love of computers and interest in human behavior, steered him toward neurology as he aspires to be a neurologist or neurosurgeon in pediatrics. Currently, Alex works at a private medical and surgical practice for interventional pain management during the summer months. He has also volunteered at many different organizations serving disabled populations including pre-schools and the Special Olympics organization. During his free time he enjoys camping, snowboarding, creating music, computer programming, art, and cooking. Alex is on the E-board as a secretary for the Hearts 4 Homeless Organization at Loyola. He also participates in several Clubs including Art History Club, Snowboarding and Skiing, as well as other medical Clubs. He is from St. Louis, Missouri and has two pugs named Penny and Kaylee. He is very excited about the ongoing projects in the lab investigating memory as this is a subject he is quite passionate about.
